Art Camp for kids ages 5 and up runs weekly through August 24. In Basic Art Camp, young artists create a different art project each day, trying out new materials and techniques. Specialty camps focus on one art form, including drawing, cartooning, painting, photography, ceramics, sculpture, jewelry, fiber art, and even clay animation. For more information on Art Camp, click here.

The drawing class Classical Figure is a good class for beginners, exploring the classical process of drawing the human figure from start to finish with teacher demonstrations and one-on-one time. Classical Figure meets on Friday evenings starting July 13.

Our Silver Jewelry class can accommodate both beginners and more advanced students as the class learns how to design and create their own jewelry from silver sheet and wire. Layout, sawing, soldering, forming, surface texturing, chainmaking, simple stone setting, and finishing are covered. Silver Jewelry meets Monday evenings starting July 16.

In Freeform Weaving, students become liberated from traditional patterns and structure by weaving in a stream of conscious manner. Previous weaving experience is not necessary — just an open mind and a willingness to experiment! Other classes in the fiber arts at The Art League teach techniques including felting, knitting, dyeing, and hat-making. This class meets on Sundays starting July 15.

To learn more about these and other art classes, and to register, visit The Art League School at http://www.theartleague.org/school. Classes that have openings can still be joined late at prorated tuition.
