City Reports Problem with Some Parking Meters

Software upgrade to meters caused delay in charges to credit cards in past five months.

The City of Alexandria reported on its Web page Friday that some people are receiving delayed parking meter charges on their credit cards. Here’s the message from the City:

The City has been notified that some customers who have used three specific multi-space parking meters on Reinekers Lane and Daingerfield Road during the past five months may have received delayed charges on their credit cards.

The issue was caused by a software upgrade problem at these three specific meters, which caused a delay in processing the parking transactions, according to the City.

The charges customers may have received today are transactions that were not charged to their card at the time they parked.

This problem affected only three of the City’s more than 130 multi-space meters. We apologize for the inconvenience. Persons with questions about these charges should contact their credit card company.
