Film Screening--The First Grader

Is it ever too late to begin school? Not for former Mau Mau rebel Maruge (Oliver Litondo), the 80-year-old villager who fights to gain admission to a Kenyan schoolhouse once the government promises a free education for all. At first shocked by his arrival, the head teacher (Naomie Harris) joins the man's idealistic quest to begin classes, against the wishes of many who feel he doesn't deserve a seat normally occupied by 6-year-olds. This moving drama co-stars Tony Kgoroge and Sam Feuer.  Rated PG-13
