RACHMANINOFF: Piano Concerto No. 3
MAHLER: Symphony No. 1

Having mastered an extensive range of repertoire, Garrick Ohlsson is considered one of the world’s most versatile and lauded pianists.  On Saturday, May 14 and Sunday, May 15, he joins the Alexandria Symphony Orchestra performing Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 3, considered by many to be one of the most technically difficult concertos ever written.

Also on the program is a performance of Mahler’s Symphony No. 1, honoring the composer on two landmark anniversaries: 2010 would mark his 150th birthday and 2011 the 100th anniversary of his death.
