The Friends of the Torpedo Factory Art Center are proud to present the return engagement of Jane Franklin Dance. This year, chart your own journey from dance to dance in the company’s presentation of Niche at the Torpedo Factory Art Center. The performance will be a mapped event that contains solo dances in unexpected, small places. Audience members choose their own viewing order and then walk from dance to dance. Each of the solos happens simultaneously and the audience member selects his or her own viewing order.
It begins with "Compartment," a dance at the main entrance, where maps will be distributed to each audience member. Each solo uses a song associated with the dancer's home town. The movement quality and intent is drawn from a past or current pet in the dancer's life. The Company will meet for a concluding dance around a large column on the third floor.
Part of the Friends’ Performance Art & Lecture Series, this interactive performance is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
