Visiting Artist Demo Day

Meet the Torpedo Factory’s August Visiting Artists and learn about their methods, materials, techniques, and backgrounds as they demonstrate their art forms. Demonstrations will be ongoing from 1-4pm, and questions are encouraged!

Now in its third year, the Torpedo Factory’s Visiting Artist Program exposes visitors to a rotating group of emerging and accomplished artists, and provides a unique opportunity to interact, explore and exchange ideas. As part of the program’s requirements, Visiting Artists will be actively engaged in art enrichment activities, like this one, throughout the summer.

August resident artists plan the following special events: 

Judith Giuliani will answer questions about her painting process in Studio 30. 

Sculptor Colleen Lochausen will have several sculpture armatures for visitors to add clay to while observing her work in Studio 32.

Mixed media artist Dianne Bugash will demonstrate her techniques for creating three-dimensional constructions out of mixed media and recycled objects and have clay and other materials for visitors to play with in Studio 317.

Drew Parris will demonstrate silverpoint drawing and provide visitors the opportunity to try it out in Studio 328. 

Painter Nancy Varipapa will demonstrate palette knife painting technique in Studio 331.

Jill Banks will be painting a portrait from a live model for visitors to observe in Studio 333.
