Alexandria is Celebrating World Wide Knit in Public day on Saturday, June 16th! We will meet from noon – 4 pm at King Street Gardens (located at the 1800 block of King St, one block from the King Street Metro station). Grab a lawn chair or blanket, and meet up with other area stitchers to show the world our knitting pride! WWKIP Day is open to all varieties of needlearts, so bring any craft you like.
Hang out and stitch in the naturally shaded gardens. We will also have a lemonade stand & prize drawings all day long!
About King Street Gardens
The park is designed around a large metal sculpture with hanging plants. The design is intended to evoke a ship’s prow, a plow, and a tri-cornered hat. The hanging garden suggests the Victorian era trellised gardens that once existed in Old Town and represents the street grid originally laid out by George Washington.
