UPDATE: Police Identify Victim of Fatal Shooting Wednesday Night in Alexandria
Victim, a 37-year-old man, died at an area hospital, police said.

UPDATE: The victim in last night’s homicide has been identified by police as Leon Williams, 37, of Alexandria. Police did not release any other information about a suspect or suspects in the case.

A male victim was shot and killed Wednesday night in Alexandria, according to the Alexandria Police Department.

Police are investigating the shooting that occurred on Belle Pre Way at approximately 11:45 p.m.. Officers responded to the area for a shooting, police said, and the victim was located by police, suffering from a gunshot wound.
The victim was transported to an area hospital where he later died, according to police. The investigation is ongoing.

The victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, police said.

This is the second homicide in Alexandria this year. There was another fatal shooting, on July 2, in the 700 block of N. Fayette Street, not far from Wednesday night’s shooting. The victim was a 22-year old man from Woodbridge, Shakkan Elliot-Tibbs. Police have not make an arrest in that shooting.
