ALEXANDRIA, VA — Shoppers will soon be able to browse French and Italian-inspired home goods on Alexandria's King Street.

Locally-owned boutique Crème de la Crème announced it will open in March 2024 at 907 King Street. The boutique offers high-end tableware and home goods inspired by French and Italian living. This will be its fourth store, with others in Richmond, Middleburg, Virginia and Frederick, Maryland.

"We have been looking for years at expanding our presence into Alexandria and finally found a place that will work for our format, said Tara Wegdam, the co-owner of Crème de la Crème. "We have so many customers from the D.C. and Alexandria area that have been asking us for a retail location closer by, so we are extremely excited to open our doors at 907 King Street next Spring."

The boutique signed a five-year lease with property owner EastBanc for the 2,200-square-foot space on King Street. The 907 King Street location was formerly home to Mackie's Bar and Grill, which ALX Now reported closed in 2022. EastBanc, which owns many of Georgetown's retail properties in DC, also recently secured the return of Sur La Table to King Street.

"Old Town Alexandria is known for its dynamic charm and boutique shops, making it the perfect neighborhood for Créme de la Créme," said Philippe Lanier, principal at EastBanc. "We have no doubt that their unique store experience and carefully-curated goods will attract locals and visitors alike looking for one-of-a-kind gifts and tableware."
