Southbound I-395 Reopens After Major Crash In Alexandria
Multiple vehicles were involved in a crash near the Duke Street exit, and one trapped person was rescued.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — A multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 395 in Alexandria temporarily closed all southbound lanes Monday afternoon.
The crash happened near the Duke Street exit. According to the IAFF Local 2141 firefighters union, one trapped person was extricated, and several people were taken to the hospital. Photos tweeted by the union show one of the vehicles involved had overturned.
There was no immediate word on what caused the crash.

As of 3 p.m., all lanes reopened, but delays remained for about three miles.

The Alexandria, Arlington and Fairfax County fire departments responded to the crash. The Arlington County Fire Department asked drivers to leave space for emergency vehicles to get by.
