Metro Power Problem Causes Early Morning Chaos On Blue Line

A power problem in Alexandria caused headaches for early morning commuters on top of Metro track work.

ALEXANDRIA, VA—Early morning commuters saw Metro Blue Line service temporarily shut down Tuesday morning due to a power problem. Commuters faced delays on top of Blue Line service not running to DC and Maryland during Metro repair work.

Early Tuesday morning, Metro identified a power issue coming from the Van Dorn Street Station. Metro had some shuttle service between Franconia-Springfield, Van Dorn Street and King Street Stations around 6 a.m. before sending limited Yellow Line trains between Franconia-Springfield and Greenbelt.

Service was restored as of 7:38 a.m.
