New ABC Liquor Store Coming to Alexandria's West End
New store will open in January or February, according to ABC Virginia spokeswoman.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — A new ABC liquor store will be opening in Alexandria early next year, according to a spokeswoman for the Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control.

The liquor store will occupy the space where Pier 1 used to be, at 4349 Duke St.
The Pier 1 store moved into a spot at the Shoppes of Foxchase, just down the street.

The lease is fully executed and we expect to open sometime in January or February 2016, said ABC spokeswoman Kathleen Shaw.
The new ABC store “will be a larger store with unique design features,” she said.
The Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) is a major source of revenue for the commonwealth, contributing more than $1.8 billion to the general fund in the last five years. The agency currently operates 354 state stores.
Its Bureau of Law Enforcement oversees more than 16,000 ABC licensed establishments while the Hearings and Appeals Division considers more than 700 cases each year. The agency also provides alcohol education and prevention programs for people of all ages. ABC is committed to progress and innovation in carrying out its control, service and revenue mission.
