New Wegmans Store In Alexandria Partners With ALIVE
As an effort to reduce food waste, the Wegmans store in the Carlyle neighborhood will provide unused food donations to ALIVE.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — The new Wegmans grocery store is opening Wednesday in the Carlyle neighborhood of Alexandria, introducing retail to the new Carlyle Crossing development. Located at 1150 Stovall Street, the store opens at 9 a.m. Wednesday.
The new 81,300-square-foot store includes a selection of grocery items and prepared foods. There are 450 employees, most of which were hired locally, according to Wegmans spokesperson Marcie Rivera.
Wegmans has already established connections with the local community by partnering with ALIVE, a food bank serving families in need in Alexandria. According to Rivera, unsellable food throughout the store will be donated to ALIVE with pickups happening five times a week. The food donations are part of Wegman's initiative to reduce food waste.
