Out-Of-State Homicide Suspect Caught In Alexandria: Police

Alexandria Police pursued and arrested a man who was wanted for a North Carolina homicide and fled to Virginia.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — An out-of-state homicide suspect was arrested in Alexandria Tuesday night, according to the police department.

Around 10:57 p.m., police had received a lookout notification for a suspect wanted in connection to a homicide in Huntersville, North Carolina. Alexandria Police spotted the suspect's vehicle around 11:39 p.m. and pursued it to a dead end in the 100 block of Madison Street. The suspect fled on foot, leading officers to arrest him.

The suspect, Rahman Ferguson, is being held at the Alexandria Detention Center pending extradition.

Ferguson was wanted for the fatal shooting of a woman earlier that evening in Huntersville, Charlotte's WBTV reported. Police had learned the suspect fled to Virginia and sought help from Virginia State Police. Alexandria Police said Virginia State Police, Fairfax County Police Department, Metropolitan Police Department's Harbor Patrol and U.S. Park Police assisted in the search for the suspect.

This is the second major out-of-state arrest in Alexandria that day. Earlier Tuesday, the U.S. Marshals Service arrested a suspect in Alexandria wanted for a shooting that injured eight teens in Philadelphia.
