205 Titans Receive Scholarship Fund of Alexandria Awards
The Scholarship Fund of Alexandria is awarding $600,000 to graduating students and another $600,000 to students already in college.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — As Alexandria City High School's class of 2022 heads to college and other pathways after graduation, hundreds will receive support from the Scholarship Fund of Alexandria.
The Scholarship Fund of Alexandria announced 205 graduating Titans are receiving scholarships worth $600,000 for college. The fund will provide another $600,000 to Titans who are already in college to support their degree completion. The total $1.2 million commitment is the largest in the Scholarship Fund of Alexandria's 36-year-history.
"We are so very proud of the next generation of nurses, doctors, business leaders, computer scientists, recording artists, biologists, and professors who are heading off to college this fall thanks to the generosity of this community," said Priscilla Goodwin, board chair of the Scholarship Fund of Alexandria. "Scholarships really do make dreams come true."

The top award, The Madelyn Anderson Memorial Scholarship worth $40,000 over four years, went to Brianna Jerez. Jerez, the first in her family to go to college, will attend Virginia Commonwealth University in the fall to study criminal justice.

Humanities to Samia Mers; Helen Rodriguez for the Technomics/Nancy Hylton Merit Scholarship, Hamerati Fufa for the Dream Team Arts Scholarship, Brendan Smith for the Amazon Corporate Partnership Scholarship, Bryan Wibowo for the 1971 Titans Scholarship

Another recipient is Maham Malik for the 21st Century Scholarship. Malik plans to attend the University of Virginia at Wise to study nursing.
"I am sincerely honored and grateful to have been selected as a recipient of the 21st Century Scholarship," Malik said in a statement. "This scholarship means a lot to me as it will help immensely as I begin my college education. As an immigrant in America and a first-generation college student, I am open to and reliant on receiving any type of aid and support at my disposal as they contribute heavily to my ability to further my education."
Adib Sarkar, recipient of the Augusta "Dusty" Barbato Memorial Scholarship, will attend George Mason University to study information technology and cybersecurity.
"This scholarship will be a great financial relief for me and my family. It will give me the peace of mind to continue my higher education as well as motivate me to keep going," said Sarkar.
Founded in 1986, the Scholarship Fund of Alexandria helps Alexandria City High School students with financial need to afford college. Over 36 years, it has provided over $18 million in scholarships to over 5,200 students. The organization holds fundraisers throughout the year and accepts donations to fund scholarships.
