Person Dies, Another Injured In Old Town Alexandria Fire
The victim was found dead in the Old Town Alexandria townhouse overnight, according to the fire department.
ALEXANDRIA, VA—One resident was found dead when a fire broke out in Old Town Alexandria early Wednesday.
The Alexandria Fire Department responded to the 300 block of South Pitt Street around 12:34 a.m. Units found fire coming from the second floor of the townhouse and rescued a man. Firefighters found another resident dead in the home.
NBC Washington reported the victim was an elderly woman. The other resident, her husband, went to the hospital. Firefighters also rescued a dog and cat from the home.

Investigators say the cause was an electrical cord in contact with a mattress and other combustibles. Damages are estimated to be $150,000.
Overnight members responded to the 300 Block of S. Pitt Street for a house on fire. Crews arrived with fire showing from the second floor. While searching Truck 205 located and removed one victim. CPR was started and victim was transported to a local hospital. (1/2) pic.twitter.com/tRsDMQEkSV
