Puppy Found With Broken Jaw Is Going Home For The Holiday
The sweet beagle puppy underwent surgeries for a broken jaw and is now healthy enough to be adopted in Alexandria.

ALEXANDRIA, VA—It's been a rough recovery for a puppy found with a broken jaw months ago. But the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria says Bastian the beagle mix is now healthy enough to be adopted. That means he's going home for the holidays!
Bastian was about 7 months old when a resident encountered and brought him to the animal hospital in late September. No one really knew whether it was a dog bite or something else that hurt the poor pup, but he has remained a little frightened around other dogs. Doctors soon found he would need multiple surgeries. The first was an emergency treatment conducted just days after he arrived at the hospital and the second once his adult teeth began to grow in.
The community stepped up to help pay for the surgeries through donations to Sarah’s Fund. Since then, he's been taking it easy in a foster home as the surgeries helped him begin to eat and move without pain. Flash forward to today and Bastion is a healthy pup ready to go home.

The animal shelter has opened up an online application to find the right fit for Bastion. The application must be submitted before 5 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 23. The adopter will be selected on Dec. 26, and he or she will ideally complete the adoption process immediately and take Bastion home the next day.
The ideal home for Bastion is one without dogs, and the family should be able to handle an energetic young puppy and be able to support his ongoing medical care and dental follow-up appointments.

Throughout his encouraging recovery, Bastion was known for wagging his tail in appreciation for the people that saved him. Imagine how happy he'll be when he goes home with a new family.
