Lenten Series with Episcopal Author and Priest, the Rev. Martin L. Smith, at St. Paul's Church in Old Town - Mar. 12–26

ALEXANDRIA, VA – The Rev. Martin L. Smith, Episcopal priest and author of a number of popular books on contemporary spirituality, will visit St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Old Town Alexandria for a series of adult forums on Sunday mornings throughout the month of March.
To mark the contemplative, penitent liturgical season of Lent, the parish will read together Smith’s A Season for the Spirit. Smith will also preach at the 9 and 11 a.m. worship services on March 12. Copies of A Season for the Spirit are available for purchase for $20 at all St. Paul’s services.
Rev. Smith was born in the Northwest of England in 1947 and trained as a theologian at Oxford University. A priest since 1971, Smith most recently served as the Senior Associate Rector at St. Columba’s Church in Washington, DC. He continues to travel widely as a teacher, spiritual director, and retreat leader. Smith’s other works include Reconciliation: A Guide to Confession in the Episcopal Church, The Word is Very Near You, Love Set Free, Compass and Stars, and Go in Peace: The Art of Hearing Confessions (with the Rev.
