Riders Can Test Electric DASH Bus In Alexandria

Riders can try out an electric DASH bus on demonstration for free throughout the week.

ALEXANDRIA, VA—With more environmentally-friendly transportation in the future for Alexandria, DASH is testing a new all-electric bus with free rides this week.

The electric bus will be available on certain routes for riders to try from Feb. 3-10. DASH will also hold a special demonstration and display on Wednesday, Feb. 7 from 4 p.m.-8 p.m. at Alexandria City Hall Market Square, 301 King Street. The event will include remarks by Residents can check out the vehicle and technology and take a free try and ride following remarks by ATC/DASH General Manager Josh Baker at 5:30 p.m.

The bus is on a trial basis under the city's Eco City Charter to bolster environmentally-friendly efforts. Riders are asked to complete a survey after riding on the electric bus.

The electric bus will be on the following routes:

  • Monday, Feb. 5: AT6, 6 a.m. – 10 a.m.
  • Monday, February 5: AT8, 3 p.m. – 7 p.m.
  • Tuesday, February 6: AT1, AT2, 6 a.m. – 10 a.m.
  • Tuesday, February 6: AT1, 3 p.m. – 7 p.m.
  • Wednesday, February 7: AT3, AT4, 6 a.m. – 10 a.m.
  • Thursday, February 8: AT7, 6 a.m. – 10 a.m.
  • Thursday, February 8: AT3, 3 p.m. – 7 p.m.
  • Friday, February 9: AT5, 6 a.m. – 7 p.m.
