Road Near Potomac Yard Closed For Emergency Repairs
BREAKING: Heavy cracks in the roadway caused part of East Glebe Road to close near Potomac Yard.

ALEXANDRIA, VA—Northbound East Glebe Road between Main Line Boulevard and Potomac Avenue was been closed for emergency repairs Thursday. The closure does not impact U.S. 1.
The area was closed as a safety precaution before noon when moderate and heavy cracks were found. Work crews are on site, and the portion of the road is expected to reopen Friday when it is deemed safe.

Metro and DASH buses are detouring around the work area, and signs have been posted to alert vehicles.
The city believes the cracking was worsened by the rain. Although the road was closed as a precaution, no major structural damages were reported.
