ALEXANDRIA, VA — A second member of the Alexandria School Board is seeking a seat on Alexandria City Council in 2024.

Jacinta Greene, who was first elected to the School Board in 2018, is running as a Democratic candidate for City Council. A former vice chair of the board, she is the northeastern region chair for the Virginia School Boards Association. Aside from her School Board position, Greene is an independent business consultant and corporate event planner and previously worked in corporate marketing for 13 years.

"As a native Virginian and 21 year resident of Alexandria, I am excited to announce my candidacy for City Council," said Greene in a statement. "Alexandria is at a crossroads, we face tough decisions on our schools, our city’s affordability, and the impact of climate change. We need to elect experienced and principled leaders to ensure we forge the right path forward. I would be honored if Alexandrians trusted me to be one of those leaders."
