Stolen Vehicle Chase In Alexandria Leads To State Trooper Injury
State police say a state trooper vehicle struck a guardrail when a stolen vehicle driver rammed into it during a chase.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — A state trooper was injured in a pursuit that originated with a stolen vehicle in Alexandria Monday, according to Virginia State Police.
Around 11:47 p.m. Monday, the state trooper was alerted about a stolen vehicle in the City of Alexandria. The state trooper tried to stop the stolen vehicle. The driver did not stop, leading to a pursuit, according to state police.
The pursuit went onto southbound Route 1, then the eastbound Capital Beltway. The state trooper and another responding trooper tried to stop the vehicle on the Beltway, but police said the driver's vehicle rammed the trooper's vehicle. The trooper's vehicle truck a guardrail near the 3A exit, which is the Route 210 exit across the Wilson bridge in Maryland.

The state trooper was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and was released Tuesday morning. Maryland State Police confirmed the crash into the Virginia State Police vehicle happened on the Maryland side of the Beltway.
Maryland state troopers continued the pursuit through Prince George's County into Howard County. The driver crashed in the area of Washington Boulevard and Meadowridge Road in Elkridge. The driver fled on foot and was arrested.

Naturi Michon Hayes, 24, of Elkridge, Maryland, was charged with first-degree assault, attempt by driver to elude uniformed police, failure to stop after accident involving damage, aggressive and reckless driving and other traffic-related charges. She was taken to the hospital and then later to the Prince George’s Department of Corrections, where she will meet with a court commissioner.
Charges are pending in Virginia.
