Teen Pleads Guilty In Alexandria Shooting Of Cab Driver
BREAKING: A Fairfax County teen could face up to life in prison for a 2016 shooting of a taxi cab driver in Alexandria.

ALEXANDRIA, VA -- A 17-year old teen from Fairfax County pleaded guilty Thursday in the 2016 shooting of a cab driver at the 4600 block of Duke Street in Alexandria.
Troy Vann, 17, pleaded guilty to counts of aggravated malicious wounding, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and possession of a concealed weapon. He had been arrested and charged hours after the shooting of Izedin Ahmed, 48, a taxi driver from Fairfax County. The 17-year-old was indicted as an adult.

According to Alexandria Police, officers responded to a report of gunshots around 2 a.m. in front of the Foxchase shopping center. Officers located the victim, who was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Ahmed was hospitalized for two months and suffered permanent injuries. After doctors removed one of the bullets from his chest, the victim remained in a coma on life support. The shooting also shattered part of his right shoulder and caused permanent damage to his lungs.

Police located Vann several hours after the shooting, and he later admitted to the crime. Officers found the weapon used in a wooded area near the shooting. Forensic tests confirmed the gun had fired the bullet found in the victim's chest. Vann was 16 at the time of the incident.
The 17-year-old faces up to life in prison for aggravated malicious wounding, three years for use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and one year for possession of a concealed weapon. Vann's sentencing will be Sept. 28 in the Circuit Court for the City of Alexandria.
