Thankful for art during November's 2nd Thursday Art Night

Meet emerging artists at after-hours gallery openings, enjoy live music, and more during this month's 2nd Thursday Art Night.

During Second Thursday Art Night at the Torpedo Factory Art Center on Thursday, November 12, visitors can meet emerging artists during after-hours gallery openings, be among the first to see what archaeologists are digging up on Duke and Union, and more.

6 – 9 pm:

  • Share what you’re thankful for this year by adding a leaf to our artist-created Thankful Tree on the First Floor. The tree will be available for the entire month of November for visitors to continue adding leaves with messages.
  • On the eve of the city’s historic development plan, Alexandria Archaeology Museum (studio 327) offers an exclusive first look at the current excavation project on Duke and Union Streets—the future site of Hotel Indigo—as well as historical documents chronicling the history of the site as the John Carlyle warehouse in the 1750s.

6 – 7 pm; 8 – 8:45 pm:

  • Guitarist/vocalist Stan Hamrick brings his talents, performing favorites from Sinatra, Elvis, The Beatles, Eagles, The Drifters, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, and Tom Petty and others.

About The Alexandria Archaeology Museum

The Alexandria Archaeology Museum opened in 1984 in the newly renovated Torpedo Factory Art Center. The museum serves as the hub of the City’s archaeology program where visitors interact with archaeologists and volunteers working in the public laboratory; experience Alexandria’s 13,000 year-old-history through exhibits, self-guided tours, and hands-on activities; and view the latest finds from current excavations.
