Tree Lightings 2022: See Holiday Kick-Off Events Around Alexandria
To help you get in the holiday spirit, Alexandria's holiday kick-off and other events are planned in the coming weeks.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — For many families, tree lightings are a way to officially welcome the start of the holiday season. Alexandria has several kick-off events planned.
The City of Alexandria's tree lighting at Market Square is the holiday season's earliest event. Head to Market Square in front of City Hall (301 King St.) for the city's tree lighting at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 19. The event will have a countdown to the tree lighting, remarks by Mayor Justin Wilson, a welcome from the Town Crier, holiday music and Santa Claus arriving by King Street Trolley.
Del Ray's tree lighting and Menorah lighting will happen at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 4. The celebration happens at Pat Miller Neighborhood Square, Mount Vernon and Oxford Avenues. Visitors will also enjoy holiday carols, visits to hand-painted holiday windows along Mount Vernon Avenue, and thousands of luminarias along Mount Vernon Avenue honoring the late Nancy Dunning.

To enjoy ongoing holiday lights, visit Ice & Lights at Cameron Run Regional Park from Friday, Nov. 18 to Jan. 1. This winter wonderland offers outdoor holiday light displays as well as an outdoor ice rink and food.
Head over the Woodrow Wilson Bridge to see National Harbor's tree get lit up every night. The tree lighting will happen every half hour from sunset to 9 p.m. during the holiday season. In addition, fireworks displays are scheduled for Saturdays at 5:30 p.m. through Dec. 17.

After holiday kick-offs, expect plenty of other holiday events, including the doubleheader parade day with the Alexandria Scottish Christmas Walk Parade and Alexandria Holiday Boat Parade of Lights on Dec. 3.
