ALEXANDRIA, VA – Playful Hitachi is the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria’s adoptable pet of the week.

The AWLA says this handsome boy loves a game of fetch, a long walk and some one-on-one time with his toys. Hitachi is under 2 years old and is a 66-pound cuddlebug. “He likes to stay close to his person and loves back scratches and belly rubs,” the AWLA writes.

Hitachi loves meeting new people and has lived with dogs and cats before, so the shelter only requests that he meet any dog already living with a prospective adopter before leaving the shelter. This clever boy is crate-trained and has pretty good house manners. He’s just waiting for someone to lean on.
