Upcoming Program on Tree Selection and Care

The Alexandria Beautification Commission is partnering with Virginia Cooperative Extension to bring a series of educational program to Alexandria. These programs focus on ways residents can beautify their homes and neighborhoods using sustainable landscaping practices.

For the fourth program in the series, Kirsten Buhls, extension agent for Alexandria, will be speaking on Tree Selection and Care. Topics will include the benefits of native trees, planting trees to reduce your energy costs, and reimagining your back yard as a shady sanctuary. In addition, we'll cover how to get a head start on spring by improving soil, correcting drainage issues, and removing underperforming plants.

This program will take place Tuesday, October 27, 7:00-8:30 pm at the Mount Vernon Recreation Center in Del Ray at 2701 Commonwealth Avenue, Alexandria, VA.
