It was a special night at the Women's Congressional Softball Game as heroic Capitol Police officer Crystal Griner threw the first pitch.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — A week after a gunman opened fire at a GOP congressional baseball practice in Alexandria, one of the heroic Capitol Police officers, Special Agent Crystal Griner, was released from the hospital and had a special way to celebrate. Griner threw the first pitch at the Women's Congressional Softball Game Wednesday night.

Griner was shot in the ankle while exchanging gunfire with the shooter. Griner, Bailey and House Majority Whip Steve Scalise were injured, along with three others. The shooter died from gunshot wounds at the hospital. Witnesses to the shooting say the Capitol Police officers' quick response prevented death and further injuries.
