Waterfront Operations Update: June 10 – June 14

 

Regular Maintenance:

  • Mowing at all parks is on a 7-10 day mowing schedule. This will reduce to 10-14 days when weather regularly is above 85 degrees.
  • Weed control application on walkways and mulched areas will continue throughout the season.
    Herbicide:  MSDS   
    Pre-emergent:  MSDS
  • Mulching/weeding around park trees and planting areas will continue throughout the season.
  • Summer aeration is planned at the following parks (early - mid July):
    Windmill Hill Park - overseed select areas with Bermuda grass
    Founder's Dog Park
    Oronoco Bay Park
    Waterfront Park

 

Projects:

Windmill Hill:

  • The cement at the area near the volleyball court is repaired and a bollard installed to limit vehicular access.
  • The step’s wall at the 500 block of Lee St. have been repaired.
  • Several picnic table and bench pads are being installed, the picnic table pads will be flagstone to match the existing stone walkways (near completion). New tables are on order to replace the existing ones.
  • We have relocated several benches for temporary use around the bulkhead.

 

Founder’s Park: 

  • Replacing the French drain at the low area of Founders Park with a faster drainage option. (scheduled for mid July)
  • Water fountain is being installed near Northwest entrance of park.
  • Two benches are being placed on the Southwest area to mirror the two benches on the Northwest area (pads have been installed, benches should be arriving early July).
  • Clearing of the English Ivy from the central flower bed is scheduled for mid July.

Oronoco Bay Park:

  • Drainage is being planned to help reduce puddling on path.

Montgomery:

  • Low area on west side near playground regularly holds water, irrigation changes have been made to help with this and drainage options are being looked at to solve this issue.

Point Lumley & Roberdeau:

  • Installation/repairs of timbers (Complete) and minor landscaping work (In Progress).
