Waterfront Operations Update: June 24 – June 28

Updates have changed to only include upcoming projects (within two weeks) and new projects that are scheduled. They will no longer include regular maintenance. Once a project has been included in the updates it will not appear again until two weeks prior to the date scheduled for work. If you would like details on regular maintenance please contact me.


 Waterfront Operations Update: June 24 – June 28 

Volunteer Park Monitor and Gardener Position are now available. Please visit the Parks and Recreation Volunteer Opportunities for more information on volunteer opportunities. King Street Park:

    • The entrance bed and the bed between the two guard rails near the water is converting into planting areas. Due to flooding in these areas alternative surfacing to mulch is being considered including river stone. If you would like to be involved with this projects call 703.437.5518 *
    Windmill Hill Park:

      • Two dead trees on the south east corner of the dog park have been marked for removal, scheduled for removal in the near future. *
      • There will be some minor cleanup work in the playground including weeding and refilling the sand box. This is scheduled for the coming week. *   
      • Aeration is scheduled between July 15th -26th.
      Founder’s Park: 
        • A volunteer group is installing drainage at low spots on path and clearing the English Ivy from the central flower bed on July 12th.
        • Washouts caused by recent storms are being repaired. More permanent repairs to help fix and prevent this issue may begin as early as mid-August. *   
          • Aeration of the dog park is scheduled between July 15th -26th.
          Oronoco Bay Park:
            • A volunteer group is installing drainage at low spots on path on July 5th.
            • Washouts caused by recent storms are being repaired. More permanent repairs to help fix and prevent this issue may begin as early as mid-August. *   
            • Aeration is schedule between July 15th -26th.
            Waterfront Park:

              • Aeration is schedule between July 15th -26th.
