Weekend Metro Shutdowns To Begin On Yellow Line

SafeTrack has ended, but new track work will cut off Yellow Line service from Alexandria to DC during three upcoming weekends.

ALEXANDRIA, VA—Even with the end of SafeTrack, Alexandria riders will continue to be impacted by weekend Metro work. Alexandria residents should be aware Metro's Yellow Line Trains will not go into DC for three straight weekends, WTOP reports.

The work will happen through Saturday, July 15 through Sunday, July 30. Crews will be repairing concrete that holds up tracks.

Yellow Line trains will run every 15 minutes between Huntington and Reagan National Airport. Riders should transfer to the Blue Line to get into DC. Blue Line trains are expected to run as usual every 12 minutes on Saturday and 15 minutes on Sunday. No Yellow Line trains will run in DC, which means riders should expect more crowding on Green Line trains. Riders should also be aware Red Line will not run between Friendship Heights and Grosvenor-Strathmore on weekends through Sunday, Aug. 6.

During the shutdowns, Yellow Line trains are scheduled every 15 minutes or so between Huntington and Reagan National Airport. To go any farther toward D.C., riders will have to transfer to a Blue Line train.
