Sunday Road Advisory for Old Town, GW Parkway

On Sunday, Nov. 15, from 5 a.m. to 11 a.m., USA Track & Field will hold a national road racing championship 12k footraces that will impact roadways in Old Town and on the GW Parkway, according to the National Park Service.

Starting and finishing in Oronoco Bay Park, the 12K will move from Old Town Alexandria onto the George Washington Parkway.

George Washington Memorial Parkway will be closed from Little Hunting Creek to Morningside Lane to all vehicle traffic. Route 1 and Fort Hunt Road are alternatives for traffic going north/south between Old Town and Mount Vernon.

The USATF National Road Racing Championships will begin in Old Town Alexandria, proceed south on the George Washington Memorial Parkway, turn near Tulane Avenue, and return to Old Town Alexandria.
