Major Loudoun Route To Close Intermittently Starting This Week
Lane changes and intermittent closures are beginning on the long-awaited Route 7/Route 690 interchange.
PURCELLVILLE, VA — The Loudoun County government is warning drivers to expect intermittent closures and delays on Route 7 eastbound and westbound near the Route 690 overpass starting April 14 and continuing through the summer as the county builds the Route 7/Route 690 interchange.
Work like clearing trees, installing utilities and other projects could be underway during daylight hours outside of peak commute times over the next few months. Drivers are advised that it might take longer than usual to travel in the area.
According to the county government, the new interchange on the major east-west freeway will alleviate connectivity issues in the road network around Purcellville, reduce traffic in downtown Purcellville and elsewhere and provide a more direct route to destinations north and northwest of Route 7, including Woodgrove High School, Mountain View Elementary School and nearby destinations in West Virginia.
