Award-Winning Sculptor Arriving in Reston

The "Artist Talk" series, hosted by the Initiative for Public Art-Reston, will feature sculptor Barbara Grygutis next Wednesday.

RESTON, VA — The Initiative for Public Art-Reston (IPAR) is launching the Artist Talk Series this Wednesday, and it will feature award-winning sculptor Barbara Grygutis, who has created 75 large-scale public art works across the United States and Canada.

The event will be held Sept. 21 at 7:30 p.m. in a conference room at Reston Association offices at 12001 Sunrise Valley Drive, according to a statement.

"Grygutis will speak at McLean Project for the Arts' Emerson Gallery the following evening," the statement reads. "Grygutis' completed projects include sculptural environments integrated into urban and natural landscapes, iconic freestanding works, sculpture gardens, public plazas, gateways and signature markers, memorials, monuments, and works of art designed to enhance pedestrian and urban mass transportation systems."

Grygutis has had her work featured at the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, D.C. She is also the designer of the sculpture at the Silver Line's Spring Hill Metro station.
