Comstock Holdings Board Member Socrates 'Soc' Verses Dies: Report
Comstock announces the death of Socrates 'Soc' Verses, a member of the company's board of directors, according to a release.

RESTON, VA — Comstock Holding Companies, the developer behind the mixed-use and transit-oriented properties at the Wiehle-Reston East Metro Station, announced Monday the death of board member Socrates "Soc" Verses.
“We are deeply saddened by the loss of our friend and colleague Socrates Verses, and we extend our deepest condolences to the Verses family,” said Christopher Clemente, chairman and CEO of Comstock. “Soc’s steady presence and thoughtful guidance over his tenure on our board were invaluable. We are grateful for his dedicated service and contribution to the Comstock mission. Soc will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know him.”
A member of Comstock’s Board of Directors since June 2005, Verses chaired that body’s compensation committee, according to his bio on The Org. Since 2009, he served as the CEO of the web application optimization company Netcordant, Inc., and was co-CEO of MDA360, a data analytics firm.

From 2001-2008, Verses was also president and CEO of Realeu, Inc., and prior to that was president and director of Technology Enablers, Inc., according to The Org. In addition, he was vice president of sales at Recognition Equipment Incorporated, from 1987 to 1995.
Also on Monday, Comstock announced that it would be temporarily shrinking the size of its board of director from seven to six, according to a release.

David M. Guernsey was appointed the new chairman of the board’s compensation committee, succeeding Verses in that role. Also, James A. MacCutcheon, who chairs and is the designated financial expert on the board’s audit committee, joined the compensation committee.
“Both appointments reflect Comstock's ongoing commitment to strong governance and strategic oversight,” according to a company release.
