Comstock Marketing Team Receives Award From Commuter Connections

Comstock Holding Companies received an employer award for its marketing team's efforts in promoting eco-friendly transit solutions.

RESTON, VA — Reston-based Comstock Holding Companies received the Marketing Award Wednesday, during Commuter Connections’ 50th Anniversary celebration at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C.

"We are honored to receive the 2024 Employer Recognition Award from Commuter Connections. At Comstock, we are dedicated to advancing smarter commuting options that benefit all," said Chris Clemente, CEO of Comstock. "That’s why we develop high-quality, sustainable, mixed-use and transit-oriented communities that are uniquely positioned to meet the diverse needs of many, while seamlessly integrating into the surrounding communities and minimizing impact on the world we are all share."

The National Capital Region Transportation Planning Board at the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments coordinates Commuter Connections, which offers free programs to encourage commuters to adopt more energy-efficient and environmentally friendly modes of transportation.

In addition, Commuter Connections assists businesses with telework and organizes major events. In partnership with the Washington Area Bicyclist Association, the program annually hosts Bike to Work Day, which has grown from 1,100 registrants in 2001 to 14,000 in 2024.

“We are grateful to have partners like Commuter Connections innovating to meet the needs of residents, workers, and visitors,” said D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser, the keynote speech at the event. “We know that Washington, DC is a world class city, and world class cities have world class transportation options. Together, we will continue to expand our transportation network, protect the environment, and grow our economy.”

Comstock’s marketing team was recognized with an employer award for its partnership with the Dulles Area Transportation Authority to promote eco-friendly community options, according to a release.

Comstock's initiatives included:

  • Offering a monthly $100 commuter benefits match;
  • Promoting DATA's Plus$50 program, which offers employees a free $50 SmarTrip card to try transit, when they signup for Comstock's Commuter Benefits Program; and
  • Supporting bike infrastructure at its worksite near the Wiehle-Reston East Station. This includes installing bike racks, lockers, and shower facilities.

Comstock Holdings’ headquarters is located adjacent to the Wiehle-Reston East Metro Station. The company develops and operates mixed-use, transit-oriented properties throughout the region.
