ICYMI: Beer and Film Tour Stopping in Reston This Week to Aid Local Cause

Sponsored by New Belgium Brewing Company, the tour will feature 14 exotic beers and up to 20 short films inside Reston Town Center.

Restonians will have a chance to enjoy exotic beers at a short-film festival coming to town this week, and it’s all for a good cause.

New Belgium Brewing Company’s sixth-annual Clips Beer & Film Tour is coming to Reston on Thursday, Sept. 10 as part of a 20-city tour nationwide. The event features a series of short films created by New Belgium beer enthusiasts, as well as the chance to purchase exotic New Belgium beers that can be difficult to find in stores.

Reston is the 13th stop on this summer’s tour, and like every other stop New Belgium will donate all proceeds generated from the event to a local nonprofit organization based in that city. Reston’s nonprofit this year is Fairfax Advocates for Better Bicycling (FABB).

The event is free to attend if you’re looking to take in a few short films, but the beer is not free — that’s how the money for these nonprofits is generated. New Belgium will have 14 different types of beer on hand, and patrons can try a 3-ounce sample for $1.50 or a full 12-ounce beer for $6.

“Clips is all about providing a great evening for the local community to enjoy together, while also giving back to it,” Christie Cantania, Clips National Special Events Manager, said in a news release. “... We are really excited to share the creativity of our brewers and film makers.”

The short-film festival will screen approximately 20 films. All selected filmmakers chosen for the tour will receive a trophy-worthy beer in a custom screen-printed bottle made exclusively for the winning submissions.

The event will begin at 7 p.m. at Reston Town Center, and films will begin running at 8:30 p.m. Attendees must bring a valid I.D. in order to drink beer, and no outside alcohol is permitted. Lawn chairs, blankets and other picnic items are permitted, and there will be local food vendors present on site as well.
