Patient with 'High-Risk' Exposure to Ebola Cleared to Go Home to Virginia

NIH cleared patient today to go home to private residence in Virginia to complete 21 days of monitoring by Virginia Department of Health.

A patient exposed to the Ebola virus was discharged Friday by the NIH Clinical Center, going home to a private residence in Virginia, according to a news release from NIH.

The NIH did not give any other information about the patient or where he or she lives in Virginia.

The center discharged the patient, an American nurse, who was admitted to the hospital on Dec. 11 following a “high-risk exposure to Ebola virus” while providing bedside nursing care in Sierra Leone, NIH said. The nurse was transported back to the United States in isolation via a chartered aircraft.
