Reston Residents Invited to Take Part in Town-Wide Art Project
The project, titled "We Make Reston," will feature portraits of community members and will be displayed at the Reston Multicultural Festival

The Reston Community Center (RCC) and the Initiative for Public Art — Reston (IPAR) are giving the Reston community a chance to represent itself through art in time for the Reston Multicultural Festival in September.
Residents are encouraged to participate in “We Make Reston,” a large-scale art project that collects portraits of individual community members and displays them side-by-side as part of an enormous mural to be displayed at Lake Anne Plaza.

Taking part in the project is simple. Community members hoping to see their portraits on the mural must simply visit the project’s website to submit a black-and-white portraits of themselves for consideration. The window to submit individual portraits opened on Wednesday, July 15, and that window will remain open until Sunday, Aug. 9.
“We Make Reston” will be unveiled at the Multicultural Festival on Saturday, Sept. 26, and will remain on display for up to four weeks, although that time frame may be abbreviated depending on weather damage to the portraits.
