The Story of Reston to be Screened in San Francisco
The documentary 'Another Way of Living' examines the unique history of Reston.

RESTON, VA — The feature documentary "Another Way of Living: The Story of Reston, VA" will be screened at the SF Urban Film Fest in San Francisco on Nov. 16, according to a statement from the makers of the film.
The film focuses on Robert Simon's vision for the Reston community during the 1950s post-war suburban sprawl. Simon wanted to build a "suburban town that integrated citizens across racial, economic and religious divides," the statement reads.
The film delves into Reston's founding in 1964, as well as the community's financial struggles and uncertain future.

The theme of this year's SF Urban Film Fest is "Creating Just Cities," making the Reston documentary a perfect fit. There will be a panel discussion after the film titled, “Urban Design in the Future – Incremental Change or Visionary Planning?”
