Want an Alternative to Donald Trump on Friday? Try This Reston Art Show
The "CUT" exhibition will be open during the swearing-in and will feature artwork made entirely from paper and scissors.

RESTON, VA — You can be forgiven for wanting to skip the craziness of Inauguration Day 2017, and there's something you can do this coming Friday in Reston instead of watching Donald Trump get sworn into office: tour an art exhibit.
The Greater Reston Arts Center says they'll be open from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Jan. 20, right around the time when Trump takes the oath of office on the steps of the U.S. Capitol in front of hundreds of thousands on the National Mall.
The Greater Reston Arts Center will be showcasing their new exhibit "CUT," which features artwork made out of paper and scissors. It will be on display through February. The exhibit follows STITCH in 2014 and BEAD in 2015, which had similar concepts.

This exhibit, which has been open since December, includes works from six artists.
"CUT will link the long history of paper cutting as an art form connecting various customs that have evolved uniquely all over the world reflecting the traditions, folklore, and practices of society," according to a statement from the art center. "Professional contemporary artists working with cut paper or stencils sometimes deliberately engage the history of their medium, but often, as will be reflected in this exhibition, they employ new techniques with scissors, x-acto knives, and laser-cutting machines to generate line, form, texture, and movement."
