Help Local Students Start the School Year Ready to Learn
Every child deserves to walk into school feeling prepared and confident.
St. Matthew's Episcopal Church is collecting school supplies for students at our partner schools here in the Sterling community, and we'd love your help!
Our partner schools* have provided a&nbsp;<a href="https://8500123e-1de8-474a-8a49-25ef787cd22d.filesusr.com/ugd/273025_e6848e68968b4524819ddee00b6852b4.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener nofollow">specific list of needed supplies</a>, including backpacks, headphones, glue sticks, folders, water bottles, and more.
There are three easy ways to help:
&bull; Pray for students, teachers, and families as they prepare for a new school year. &bull; Donate school supplies by <a href="https://8500123e-1de8-474a-8a49-25ef787cd22d.filesusr.com/ugd/273025_e6848e68968b4524819ddee00b6852b4.pdf" rel="noopener nofollow" target="_blank">shopping our requested supply list</a> or our&nbsp;<a href="https://www.walmart.com/registry/RR/a3427fef-0713-4816-8c54-77144f253730" target="_blank" rel="noopener nofollow">online Walmart wishlist.</a> &bull; Sponsor a student with a <a href="https://onrealm.org/stmtts/-/form/give/default" target="_blank" rel="noopener nofollow">$40 financial gift</a> to help provide everything they need for a successful school year.
Donations are due by Sunday, August 16.

Get ready for a day of creativity, competition, music and plenty of fun as the Lake Anne Cardboard Boat Regatta returns to Lake Anne Plaza, Reston, VA on Saturday, August 8th. featuring over of over 40 homemade boats. This much-anticipated Reston tradition, sponsored by the Reston Museum, brings an afternoon of hilarious mishaps, fierce-but-friendly competition and plenty of fun, free for the community to enjoy.Crush Funk Brass brings its energetic sound to the plaza from noon to 1:00 PM providing the perfect soundtrack for the festivities. Among other activities, Mindshift Gym will have an exciting obstacle course for kids, giving them a chance to test their skills while having some fun. Boat races take place from 1:00 to 3:00PM.
