Tysons Corner Named Virginia's Top Spot to Start a Business
Tysons topped a list littered with Northern Virginia cities, which list-maker NerdWallet considers a benefit of lying near Washington, D.C.

With a corporate tax rate and unemployment rate both below the national average, Virginia has proven itself to be one of the most business-friendly states in the nation.
Perhaps that’s why the Commonwealth has added more than 193,000 jobs since the 2008 recession, according to Bureau of Labor Statistics, while private sector workers are earning 1.9 percent more than they did a year ago.
However, online financial resource NerdWallet dove a bit further into Virginia’s business culture, extracting the 10 best towns in which to start a new business throughout the state.

Topping that list is Tysons Corner, which continues to transform into Northern Virginia’s urban center after the opening of the Metrorail Silver Line throughout the city.
The addition of public transportation to a rapidly growing area has convinced a number of companies to set up shop in town, which in turn has brought a hefty number of new jobs to the area.

Take a look at what NerdWallet had to say about its No. 1 city to start a business in Virginia:
The unincorporated Tysons Corner area serves as Fairfax County’s central business district; it’s home to 26.4 million square feet of office space. Tysons Corner’s businesses have an average annual revenue of $11.4 million, which is tops on our list and three times higher than any other place in our survey. Nearly 45 percent of Tysons Corner businesses have paid employees, and its 23.9 businesses per 100 people ranks second highest among all Virginia communities. NerdWallet evaluated each city’s business environment and local economy when forming this list, and noticed that adjacency to Washington, D.C., helps Northern Virginia cities a great deal.
