14 Cars Involved In Fiery I-66 Crash Near Oakton

The fire department said two cars caught on fire, and a dozen more vehicles got involved in the crash.

OAKTON, VA—A fiery crash got over a dozen vehicles involved on Interstate 66 near Oakton Thursday evening.

The crash happened around 6 p.m. on eastbound I-66 before Chain Bridge Road (Route 123). According to Fairfax County Fire and Rescue, one car initially caught fire. When crews arrived, the fire had spread to two cars and starting to extend to a third.

Virginia State Police said the initial crash caused a chain reaction, WTOP reported. 14 cars were involved in the crash with 19 people inside the cars. No injuries were reported.

According to WTOP, the crash caused delays for hours.
