2 Dogs Found Dead In Vienna House Fire

Fire officials say the residents were out of town when a Vienna house fire killed two dogs.

VIENNA, VA—Fire officials are trying to determine the cause of a blaze that killed two dogs over the weekend in Vienna.

Around 4:30 a.m. on Sunday, firefighters found the home in the 2000 block of Gunnell Farms Drive up in flames. The firefighters quickly put out the two-alarm fire.

A neighbor had discovered the fire and called 911. The home's occupants were out of town, but firefighters found two dogs dead inside. No other injuries were reported.

Fire officials say the blaze originated in the basement, but the cause remains under investigation.

Damages are estimated at $273,750. The residents have declined Red Cross assistance.
