4 Displaced After Vienna House Fire

No one was one when the fire broke out. A Vienna police officer noticed the fire and called for help.

VIENNA, VA — Four residents were displaced after a fire at a Vienna home Sunday, July 28, according to Fairfax County Fire and Rescue. There were no injuries.

Around 1:42 p.m., firefighters responded to the 400 block of Old Courthouse Road NE within the Town of Vienna. The fire was quickly located in the basement and put out.

No one had been home when the fire broke out. A Vienna police officer had seen smoke coming from a basement window and notified the Vienna Volunteer Fire Department.

Investigators identified the cause as a malfunctioning space heater igniting combustible items. The fire department estimates $125,000 in damage. Red Cross assistance was declined.
