Akai Tori Ramen & Yakitori To Close After 1 Year In Vienna

After just over a year in business, Japanese restaurant Akai Tori Ramen & Yakitori is set to say farewell to Vienna.

VIENNA, VA — After one year in Vienna, Japanese restaurant Akai Tori Ramen & Yakitori will serve its last ramen.

The restaurant announced it will close after 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 29 at 234 Maple Avenue East in Vienna.

"It is with a heavy heart that we announce the closure of our restaurant," Akai Tori Ramen & Yakitori shared on social media. "This decision was incredibly difficult, but necessary given the current circumstances."

Akai Tori, which translates to Red Bird, serves authentic Japanese dishes, including ramen, yakitori (grilled skewers), donburi and Japanese beers, sake and spirits. It has various forms of ramen with broths made from a secret recipe. Some of its specialty ramens are Black Garlic Tonkotsu ramen and Truffle Flavored Shoyu Ramen.

As Eater DC reported last year, the restaurant came from Sushi Yoshi owner Mark Liu. Another ramen restaurant called Shin Se Kai Ramen was open in the space before Akai Tori Ramen & Yakitori.
