CAFFE AMOURI and WHOLE FOODS announces "VIENNA IDOL-2012" to benefit the KHRISTIN KYLLO MEMORIAL FUND
Vienna Idol, sponsored by CAFFÈ AMOURI, Whole Foods, and one or more local, community minded businesses, is a community event providing the opportunity for local talented individuals to
showcase their skills in a competitive format.
More importantly, we will be raising money for the KHRISTIN KYLLO MEMORIAL FUND. This fund was established in the name of an incredible James Madison student, Khristin Kyllo. Khristin was an outstanding basketball and softball player, an accomplished student, a loyal friend and a young woman with a heart of gold and a million dollar smile who tragically departed us in 2011.
The KHRISTIN KYLLO MEMORIAL FUND was inspired by Khristin and the way she lived her life… Passionately, with compassion and a zeal that inspired all who had the opportunity to be touched by her. Started by her parents, Julie and Tom Kyllo, the fund will provide scholarships to individuals who embody the ideals by which Khristin lived. In 2011, the Fund awarded scholarships of $5,000 and $1,500. The fund also contributes to Seizure and SUDEP (Sudden Unexplained Death in Epilepsy) research efforts.
The competition kicks off at the end of April, 2012. Once a week, contestants will perform at CAFFÈ AMOURI and the Whole Foods café in Vienna
where they will be voted on by three judges.
The judges will range from local music teachers to civic leaders, musicians, business owners and prominent community figures. Local “Celebrity Guest Judges” will be sprinkled in as well. As part of the commitment to the charitable cause, CAFFÈ AMOURI will donate 10% of each evenings proceeds to the KHRISTIN KYLLO MEMORIAL FUND.

The VIENNA IDOL semi-final competition will be held during VIVA VIENNA over the Memorial Day weekend in the parking lot of CAFFÈ AMOURI. VIVA VIENNA annually draws over 20,000 people, ensuring a wonderful turnout as our talent vies for the right to
move to the finals.
The VIENNA IDOL finals will be held at a Town of Vienna CONCERT ON THE GREEN on Friday, June 8th. The winner will be determined by donation “votes”. The four finalists will each have a jar. Audience members will “buy” vote tickets for $1.00 each and put them in the jar. The finalist with the highest
total will be crowned 2012’s VIENNA IDOL!

All of the proceeds will go to the KHRISTIN KYLLO MEMORIAL FUND.
We will approach one or more of the local
cable and cable access channels to arrange a live broadcast for this final event.
Additionally, as each person votes, their name will go into a drawing to receive a “CHURCH STREET BASKET” of goods and services donated by other Church Street businesses. Voters can vote once, or 100 times; benefiting the FUND and increasing their chances of winning this valuable prize.
The winner will receive, besides the notoriety of being this year’s VIENNA IDOL, a $500 cash prize. Second place will receive $200, third place will receive $100 and fourth place will receive a Church
Street Vendor gift basket.
VIENNA IDOL will be the kickoff event of a KHRISTIN KYLLO MEMORIAL FUND weekend. The next night, the Town Green will host the second annual KYLLOPALLOZA concert. Last year’s KYLLOPALOOZA event raised over $10,000. As an added “kicker” to both events, the VIENNA IDOL winner will perform
their WINNING NUMBER during the next evenings KYLLOPALOOZA.
Webelieve that the very nature of VIENNA IDOL – its community outreach, musical opportunities afforded and giving back nature, will make this an annual event that folks will look forward to.
