Another Round Of Storms Could Bring Flash Flooding To NoVA, DC

Lower temperatures means a lower risk for severe storms, but forecasters expect heavy rain in the afternoon and evening.

WASHINGTON, DC — The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch as another round of thunderstorms is headed for the Northern Virginia and DC areas Friday evening.

Storms brought heavy rain to the region Thursday night, and more heavy rain is expected Friday afternoon. According to the National Weather Service's Baltimore-Washington office, slow-moving storms will develop by mid-day and move east into the afternoon and evening.

The watch, covering DC and parts of Virginia, Maryland and West Virginia, is in effect from noon Friday to midnight. A flash flood watch means conditions leading to flash flooding could develop. Residents should monitor the NWS forecast in case a flash flood warning is issued.
