Assaults By Bicyclist Reported On W&OD Trail: Vienna Police

VIENNA, VA — Vienna Police have taken multiple reports of assaults on the Washington and Old Dominion Trail on Monday.

The first report came around 1:40 p.m. on Monday, June 29. A woman walking on the W&OD trail near the Vienna Community Center said a man on a bicycle struck her on the buttocks with his hand while riding by. She reported that he also struck a juvenile on the buttocks while she was on a bicycle.

The man continued southbound on the trail, according to police. A search of the area was unsuccessful. A description of the man was not provided.

The next day, police received another report of an incident that happened the night of June 29. Around 8 p.m. a resident was walking on the trail near the 800 block of Follin Lane SE when a man on a bicycle struck her buttocks. Police say the man fled northbound on the trail.

Other notable police incidents from June 26 to July 1 include unlocked vehicle break-ins. Residents are advised to secure all vehicle windows and doors and remove valuables. Information on any incident can be reported to Vienna Police's non-emergency number at 703-255-6366.
